I just had a couple of really tough months. There was a time when my life hit the kind of snags like this that we all experience, I would have been down and out — no energy, no exercise, poor nutrition, restless sleep, and an irritable demeanor. You know it’s bad when you don’t even want to be around yourself!

Even though it’s been tough, I’ve been able to rely on Tai Chi and Qigong to get me through. Focusing on movement and relaxing helped keep my thoughts away from the “pity party” I sometimes feel I need to host for myself. Moving and breathing brings a different kind of awareness; it should remind us all that we are ALIVE, and that in an alert yet relaxed state, we are in a good position to overcome just about ANYTHING!

It’s taken a couple of weeks of struggle, but I’m back to my regular daily routine. I keep learning this simple life lesson over and over (so I guess I haven’t quite mastered it yet): Follow your instincts. Heed that gut feeling. Listen to what your mind, body and spirit is trying to tell you. And create a regular daily practice.
