Great Article

Yesterday I stopped to read an article that had the teaser headline: The Daily Habits of Outrageously Successful People.” It said that every one of them had one habit in common, and that while science can’t PROVE this habit is what helped them become successful, it is MORE than just a curious coincidence.
Some might consider it a lifestyle, but the “habit” the article referred to was the fact that of the 10 super successful people mentioned, each one (as in every single one of them) said meditation practice plays a key role in their success. Not only do they MAKE time to meditate each day, but they know they wouldn’t be who they are today without this practice. Many have been meditating for decades, using meditation in its many different forms to help transform their lives.
Since Tai Chi is considered “moving meditation,” I would say that everyone learning this beneficial practice is actively “moving” [pun intended] in the right direction whether they are at day one of a basic program or have completed years of experience at the mastery level. The important thing is that we take time for ourselves – enrich and empower our own lives so we can be infused with needed wisdom and energy to touch the lives of others. But say the word meditation and people think of spacing out, or trying to think about not thinking (what’s that you say!?!). But the reality of meditation is to be fully alert and aware — even MORE “present” in each moment.
Meditation can be found in everything we do. My meditation is in practicing Tai Chi, but it’s also in my writing. It’s in genuine social interactions, enjoying good food while finding the balance in nutrition for good health. My meditation is in a song lyric, the spontaneous smile gifted to me by a stranger, and getting caught in the rain without an umbrella and accepting nature’s gentle touch. My meditation changes each day, too — sometimes it changes each minute, each hour. It’s where ever and whenever I am fully present in my own life.
So I think what the article is trying to say is that if you want to be successful, make time for yourself. Every day you have a new chance to define who you are and what you will do with this gift that is life.
What is your meditation?
